Lila Bloom
Lila Bloom is a born and raised New Yorker. With a wide range of musical influences from Ella Fitzgerald to Bjork, and Radiohead to Jeff Buckley, Lila explores grief, awe, and surrender through her relationship to nature, her body, and conversations with a higher self. Lila Bloom plays the role of the bard sharing a range of songs from tender lullabies to rage filled war cries dedicated to the wary hearts of those who dare to interrupt generational cycles, refuse complacent living, and reclaim their lives. Lila has performed her original music in venues and collaborated with artists in China, Mexico, Berlin, and NYC, and is also the lead singer in The Kingston Afro Beat Band which performs regularly in Brooklyn. She’s planning to release a full length original album by early next year.
Lucia Gutierrez
Lucía Gutiérrez Rebolloso is a 21-year-old singer, born and raised in Veracruz, Mexico. She started singing at age 5 in her parents’ son jarocho group, “Son de Madera.” (Son jarocho is a musical style originating in the Gulf Coast of Mexico.) Later she discovered jazz and became interested in the genre. In 2022, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in jazz studies from Universidad Veracruzana. She was a finalist in the solo category in the “Young Jazz Award” of the National Jazz Orchestra of Mexico and was the first place winner in the ensemble category where she sang with the a cappella group, NAWI. Currently, she is recording her first solo album and working as a backup singer and vocal director for the Mexican artist Natalia Lafourcade.
Eduardo Rodriguez & Saul Ojeda
Eduardo “Lalo” Rodriguez, born in Poza Rica, Veracruz, in November 1987, is a musician whose work celebrates freedom, connection, and exploration. From his classical guitar studies in Puebla with Cuban guitarist Manuel Espinas to his jazz training with Agustin Bernal in Mexico City, Lalo’s journey has been shaped by diverse influences, including Heitor Villa-Lobos, Leo Brower, and his mentorships with composer Alexander Liebermann and Master Drummer Michael Carvin. Now based in New York, Lalo has toured with his band, collaborated with artists from around the world, and drawn inspiration from nature, history, and personal experiences. As he says, “We have to keep searching, and to keep the expression of that search. That’s what music is for me.”
Patience Higgins
Saxophone and flute player Patience Higgins was a featured artist on 1998s double Grammy Award winning recording Dee Dee Bridgewaters Dear Ella. Other credits include tour and recording engagements with the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Count Bassie Orchestra, Aretha Franklin, Bobby Short, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, The Pointer Sisters and Yoko Ono, among many others. Mr. Higgins is also well know for his work on Broadway, including The Wiz, Aint Misbehavin, Chicago, and many others, as well as numerous movie soundtracks.
Haeun Joo
Haeun Joo is a jazz pianist from South Korea. She started playing piano when she was 5 years old. She studied classical composition in Busan Art High School in Korea and went to Howon University to study Pop and Jazz. She has collaborated with several pop artists in Korea and has performed as a singer songwriter after winning the Competition Yoo Jae-Ha for Songwriters.
She moved to the U.S in 2011 to study at Berklee College of Music where she was offered a scholarship, she studied with Danilo Perez, George Garzone, Joan Brackeen, Neil Olmstead, Vadim Neselovskyi, and Hal Crook. After she graduated, she moved to New York to go to SUNY at Purchase and studied with John Abercrombie, David Hazeltine, Jon Faddis, Todd Coolman, Doug Weiss, and Ralph Lalama. She has been playing actively, since she moved to New York, in some of the most important venues, such as Dizzy’s Coca Cola, Blue Note, Birdland, and Carnegie Hall, among others.
Haeun Joo went Mexico City in 2019 to play at Zinco Jazz Club and offered master classes there.
